The top 8 furniture lots in our March sales – and why lockdown is increasing demand

 |  By andy

Here, Hansons’ furniture expert Edward Rycroft, shines the spotlight on successful items in the March furniture sales.

An eclectic mix of furniture from different centuries attracted bidders in Hansons’ March auctions.

Our sales offered a range of furniture to suit many tastes from the 17th Century through to the late 20th Century.

Edward said: “Items from different periods sold well showing the strength of the current furniture market. This is, perhaps, because people are spending more time at home and want to improve there surroundings. If this theory is correct, then the current prices may not last forever, so now is a good time sell.”

The top 8 lots were as follows:

Lot 2035 – A Victorian oak twin pedestal writing desk – Sold for £180

Lot 2036 – A Nathan teak sideboard, late 20th Century – Sold for £270

Lot 2053 – A mid 18th Century Rococo giltwood mirror – Sold for £460

Lot 2067 – A 1970s teak sideboard, possibly of Danish design – Sold for £340

Lot 2097 – A late 17th Century oak coffer – Sold for £240

Lot 2141 – A 19th Century mahogany side table – Sold for £95
