A striking antique clock brought for valuation at our Derbyshire saleroom has sparked a mystery we’d love to solve.
The elegant four-glass mantel clock with a French movement, stamped 1889, features some
beautiful enamel work starring a woman in a red cloak or headdress.
Her profile decorates the clock’s enamel pendulum bob, which is so stunning it enhances the value of the clock itself.
Clock valuer Mike Wetton would love to identify the lady in red and wonders if she has religious connections. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Mike will be offering free clock valuations, by appointment, on Friday August 5, 10am-1pm, at Hansons, Heage Lane, Etwall, Derbyshire. To book an appointment, or contact him about the lady in red, please email: [email protected]. Musical instrument and country pursuits valuations are also available on August 5, 10am-noon, with Derrick Hale. To book a valuation appointment, call 01283 733988.
