Hansons’ ceramics expert Barry gets on his bike to help vital charity cause

 |  By Kendal Cooper

Hansons is proud to support many charities in different ways so I hope you won’t mind me flagging up a charity effort by a member of my team, writes Charles Hanson.

Ceramics and Decorative Arts expert Barry Jones has set himself the target of cycling at least 200 miles in May to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Consequently, he has been cycling to and from work at our Etwall saleroom and is also getting out and about on his bike in the evenings and at weekends.

He said: “A friend’s father has had this and I felt this was an appropriate cause having just turned 65. It affects one in eight men over the age of 50 and the chances of developing this cancer increase as you get older.”

The illness is, in fact, the UK’s third biggest cancer killer. Barry is raising money to help fund lifesaving research for men and their families affected by the disease.

If you would like to sponsor Barry’s charity cycle ride, please visit https://cyclethemonth.prostatecanceruk.org/fundraising/200-miles-for-prostate-cancer2023

Meanwhile, if you have any ceramic items you are considering selling in our monthly sales, you can arrange a free valuation by emailing: [email protected] or calling 01283 733988. Finally, on the subject of charity events, I am happy to give talks to aid good causes if my diary allows. To find out more, email [email protected].
