I was all shook up when I spotted an Elvis number plate in our March 28 Music and Film Memorabilia Auction, writes Charles Hanson.
The sale features everything from Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood’s signed guitar to a saxophone linked to David Bowie. But when it comes to musical legends, we simply can’t forget Elvis.
The framed Elvis Presley Tennessee number plate ‘00000’, lot 29, previously sold at auction for £4,200 in 2008. That makes its £1,000-£1,500 estimate look something of a bargain.
It’s been signed by his former wife Prescilla Presley, daughter Lisa Marie Presley and the rock and roll star’s long time great friend George Klein, among others.
