5 top lots in Bishton Hall’s April Fine Art Auction – from Chinese ceramics to vintage Raleigh Chopper

 |  By Kendal Cooper

Antique and Chinese ceramics excelled in Bishton Hall’s April Fine Art Auction, much to the delight of Bishton’s Saleroom Manager Mark Holder.

He said: “The Chinese market is surging and demand is high. Our Asian lots sold well internationally. We regularly source Chinese objects which are sought after by regular buyers keen to add to their collections.

“Items of nostalgia also did well. A 1970s Rayleigh Chopper in good order made a hammer price of £750. People like to remember their childhood days in a sector fuelled by nostalgia.

“Fine Art antiques play a major role in our Bishton Hall monthly auctions, enhanced by the grand setting of the Staffordshire Georgian mansion. It’s the perfect period backdrop for fine antiques, such as an 18th Century cased miniature portrait of James Edward Stuart (1701-1766) which made £4,000.”
