An exceptional collection of rare items have been sourced for Hansons’ Autumn Fine Art & Antiques Auction which will be held on Friday October 14 and Monday October 17.
Head of Fine Art Isabel Murtough says: “We will be offering more than 450 lots of silver, jewellery, watches, pens, ceramics, glass, works of art, paintings, clocks, furniture, wines and whisky.
“Items on offer include some fine single-owner private collections as well as unique items, such as an ancient head of Medusa, dug up in a farmer’s field in Somerset. For anyone who loves antiques or who is, perhaps, in search of the ultimate Christmas gift, it’s the perfect catalogue to browse.”

Banner – Chinese Imperial yellow silk and gold brocade dragon panel, Qing Dynasty 18th/19th century, £8,000-£10,000
Barometer – John Whitehurst and Sons – an early 19th century stick barometer, circa 1810, 97cm in length £1,000-£1,500
Brooch – Van Cleef & Arpels – a multi-gem brooch, as a mandarin duck, £2,000 – £3,000
Glasses – Part of an important private collection of over 100 18th century drinking glasses, including Jacobite and rare multi-coloured twist stems
Medusa – A bronze model of Medusa’s head £500-800
Spoons – Part of a private collection of Charles 1 and later silver seal top spoons
Tribal – A documentary carved wood paddle or club, probably South Pacific (Solomon Islands?) with scrimshaw inscription dated April 14, 1830 £2,000 – £4,000
Chinese vase – A rare pale green ground and gilt ‘lotus’ double gourd vase, Qianlong seal mark and possibly of the period, 22cm high, £40,000-£60,000
Watch – Rolex, a gent’s steel Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona wristwatch, £10,000-£15,000
