The perfect goblet to toast Derby County success

Posted on 13/01/2021 in Press Coverage

All Derby County fans are familiar with the glory days of the 1970s – even those of us too young to remember.

Consequently, the arrival of two silver goblets, one emblazoned with the words ‘Derby County Football Club - Football League Champions 1970-71’ and the other with ‘Football League Champions 1974-75’ was enough to make any Rams’ fan’s heart soar.

In the early 1970s, Derby County, under the legendary management pairing of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, became the best team in the land. In 1974-75, Dave Mackay was at the helm when the ultimate trophy was secured for the second time.

The significance of this period in DCFC history and the nostalgia it sparks make items celebrating the Rams glory days highly desirable. The silver goblets are due to be sold in Hansons’ February 24 Winter Fine Art sale with an estimate of £100-£150 each - perfect to toast future Derby County success.
