A Victorian Valentine’s card which may never have been opened has been discovered among a collection of more than 200 cards dating back more than 100 years.

A sealed envelope, circa 1885, containing a forgotten message of love was found among three albums of cards and envelopes awash with romance which date back to the Victorian and Georgian eras as well as the early 20th century.

The collection, due to be sold at Hansons London, Teddington, on February 11 belonged to the late Lawrence Randle, a keen philatelist and card collector.
